Crimson Serenity - Party backstory

Bericht door Eric » 05-01-2024 23:13

Crimson Serenity's Origin:

In a distant region of Faerûn, far from the bustling streets of Waterdeep, the land faced a different but equally ominous threat—the malevolent necromancer Enara Shadowmourn. Her dark rituals twisted the once-thriving communities into haunted realms, where the living were transformed into minions of the undead. Crimson Serenity, however, was not yet a unified force; they were individuals drawn together by a common purpose.

Da'Ssih's Flight from Shadows:
Da'Ssih, a Yuan-ti expelled from House Se'Sehen, found himself on the run. As House Se'Sehen's agents relentlessly pursued him, Da'Ssih's path crossed with Vanelis, a Monster Slayer Ranger and Rogue investigating the surge of undead and dark forces. Da'Ssih's fascination with humans and their culture led him to adopt a disguise, and despite his stoic exterior, he developed a nuanced understanding of emotions that were foreign to his kind.

Vanelis' Solitary Pursuit:
Vanelis, skilled in precision archery and stealth, was initially a lone hunter. The call to combat the undead drew her into the unfolding conflict. Though skeptical of Da'Ssih's motives, the common enemy in Enara Shadowmourn forged an alliance. The two, along with others drawn to the cause, began a journey that would shape their destiny.

Amara's Vow for Justice:
Amara Stormwind, a Wood Elf following the Circle of the Moon Druid path and the Totem Warrior Barbarian tradition, joined the cause. Her homeland suffered from the necromancer's curse, fueling her desire for justice. Amara's unique combination of druidic and barbarian abilities added a formidable edge to the emerging party.

Brejek's Curiosity Awakened:
Brejek, a Light Domain Cleric with a passion for preserving knowledge, independently arrived in the afflicted region. Drawn by signs of forbidden magics and undead corruption, Brejek recognized the severity of the threat. His skills as a healer and knowledge seeker quickly made him an invaluable asset to the party.

The Emergence of Crimson Serenity:
As the party battled Enara Shadowmourn's minions and disrupted her dark rituals, tales of their exploits spread across the afflicted regions. The people, witnessing the transformative impact of their actions, began calling them "Crimson Serenity." The name symbolized the vivid imagery of battles against cursed undead—the crimson representing the blood spilled in the fight, while "Serenity" reflected the calm and peace restored to the land after each victory.

A Symbol of Hope:
Embracing the name bestowed upon them, Crimson Serenity continued their journey with a shared purpose. The moniker became a rallying cry for those who looked to them for protection and inspiration. The party, now unified under the banner of heroes who brought serenity in the wake of crimson battles, ventured forth, carrying the mantle of hope and resilience.

Conflicts and Distrust Unveiled:
As the party delved into their shared mission, conflicts and hidden animosities emerged. Vanelis, sometimes displayed a lack of understanding or respect for Brejek's beliefs. Da'Ssih, bound by a pact with the Raven Queen, viewed it as his mission to vanquish intelligent undead and others trying to evade death forever. However, like his goddess, he considered 'dumb' undead as allowable (be it distasteful) tools that could be used on occasion. This was causing tension with Brejek, who harbored a deep hatred for all undead.

Amara's distrust and hatred for mindflayers also surfaced, adding another layer of complexity to the group dynamics. The party, previously unaware of this personal vendetta, had to navigate these newfound tensions while maintaining their united front against the greater threats that loomed.

Rumors and the Call of Undermountain:
As Crimson Serenity continued their journey, rumors of riches and secrets within the depths of Undermountain reached their ears. The party, having become a symbol of hope in the regions they saved, now faced a new challenge. The town above Undermountain whispered of untold treasures waiting to be discovered in the legendary dungeon.

Driven by a sense of duty and curiosity, Crimson Serenity set their sights on Undermountain. The interconnected chambers and lairs held both peril and possibility, and the party embraced the adventure that awaited in the largest known mass grave in Faerûn. The name "Crimson Serenity" echoed through the lands, a testament to their shared victories and the challenges that lay ahead.
